Private Party

This will be the second year that we have played for this group of hunters.  For several decades, a man and his buddies from the trucking and shipping business have gotten together for an Arizona hunt.  They bring their wives, have a great party at his house and order up some entertainment to go with the food and refreshments.  Last year was a blast and as we were tearing down, the owner paid us for the evening and then proceeded to give us a very generous tip.  He told us how much his guests had appreciated the music.  We always ask if we can come back the following year if it’s an annual event and the answer was a resounding “Yes”!

Here’s where the story becomes one of those “Small Word” stories that you hear every once in a while.  The band plays a toy auction fundraiser on the first Saturday in December at Player’s Pub.  This year, we put ourselves up for the first item to be auctioned.  Four hours of Hold my Beer Band music at your party!  Anyway, when we booked this year’s date, the host asked if one of their attendees could use her certificate for our donation at his party!  Of course you can!  Then, we began to think about last year when contacted by this potential client, he told us that he and his wife had never heard us play, but they had a friend that had and highly recommended the band for his party!  What are the odds that this same person was the winning bidder in the toy drive auction of our four-hour music gig?  Amazing!

We love to play private parties.  They are typically on a weekday, everyone there is ready for a good time, and we just love to play!
