Every October and April we make a road trip to Jerome to play the World-Famous Spirit Room Stage, then the next day, we play the 10-12 Lounge just down the hill in Clarkdale. Both of these historic towns are mining towns, so there is a connection between many of the older towns in Arizona, and that connection is mining. We always book the middle of the month of October so that it coincides with kaleidoscope weekend and Spook weekend in Jerome. One of the world’s largest kaleidoscope stores is located in Jerome. It is called the Nellie Bly, right on main street. Folks who build kaleidoscopes host all types of workshops for several days with parties in the evening! Spook weekend is when all of the surviving graduates of Jerome High School gather to celebrate each other’s lives as well as enjoy the mariachi music on main street in front of the steps.
If you’ve never visited Jerome, Clarkdale or Old Town Cottonwood, we highly recommend it! You’re not far from Sedona and can view the beautiful red rocks from Jerome, hike Sycamore Canyon between Clarkdale and Old town or just enjoy the fall weather!
